Board of Advisors
Patrick McCormack, CFA
Patrick has 30 years experience as an equity research analyst and portfolio manager. Mr. McCormack started his career in 1987 at Dean Witter, ultimately becoming an SVP Equity Research Analyst with a focus on the retail industry. In 1999 Patrick joined Tiger Management where he worked as Managing Director, Consumer Analyst. After a brief period Patrick earned the opportunity to launch one of the first Tiger Seed funds: Tiger Consumer Management. He managed that fund for 15 years, growing assets to approximately $3 billion USD and generated alpha on both the long and short side for his investors. Patrick closed the fund when he retired in 2015.
Mr. Tatham started his career as a University of Waterloo cooperative education student at IBM and as a management consultant at Arthur Andersen & Co. As Founder, Chair and CEO, Mr. Tatham led Janna Systems Inc., a world leader in enterprise customer relationship management software for financial services, which sold in 2000 in a record value transaction for a public Canadian software company. Mr. Tatham then founded and was Managing Partner of XJ Partners, a venture capital and advisory services firm that incubated NexJ Systems, where he acts as Chair and which he took public in 2011. Mr. Tatham is also Executive Chair of NexJ Health Inc., which was spun out from NexJ Systems in 2016.
Ray Williams is Managing Director and Vice Chairman, Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities (FICC) at National Bank Financial. In this role, he is responsible for facilitating engagements with strategic accounts working closely within financial markets to promote the banks’ ‘One Client, One bank’ (1C1B) synergy approach. As a Financial Services executive, specialized in global capital markets, Mr. Williams has extensive experience in Cash and Derivatives products in multiple asset classes, Infrastructure Financing, Provincial & Federal Liability Management, and Mortgage Finance Companies (MFC) Financing and Hedging of Securitized Product. Mr. Williams is also committed to community engagement, in particular in the area of diversity and inclusion efforts. He serves on leadership boards for various organizations, including 100Strong Foundation.
Aman R. Patel, CFA
Aman has over two decades of experience as an equity research analyst and portfolio manager in institutional asset management. Mr. Patel began his career in sell side equity research working at Prudential Securities and the Union Bank of Switzerland before attending the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University, where he received his MBA in Finance and Strategy. Upon graduation in 2002, Aman joined Systematic Financial Management (an affiliate of AMG), a U.S equity value manager emphasizing both quantitative and fundamental disciplines. His quanta-mental approach leveraged proprietary quantitative screens incorporating both value and momentum factors. Through his tenure at Systematic over the last 17 years, Aman became a portfolio manager and partner, helping firm wide assets peak at approximately $15 billion USD, and generated positive alpha on an annual basis since inception for investors in his strategy. He has also attained a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA).

Jim has over 30 years experience, both on the trading desk and in the executive suite of the Royal Bank of Canada. He started his career in money markets at Dominion Securities, where he became a Managing Director and a member of the Operating Committee and Executive Committee. Jim later became the Head of Global Treasury Services and also served on the Portfolio Management Committee. During his time at Global Treasury Services he was responsible for global money market, global foreign exchange, derivatives & commodities, and funding & liquidity. In 2004 he became EVP & Treasurer of the Royal Bank Financial Group where he was responsible for interest rate risk management, funds transfer pricing, liquidity management, and pension management. Jim retired in 2009 after helping the bank successfully navigate the credit crisis of 2008.
Jim Artindale, P. Eng
Jim has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Artindale has served as President and founder of Northern Blizzard Resources and served in executive roles at Tristone Capital, Ventus Energy, and Encana. He has also served on numerous boards, including as the Chairman of the Board at Zenas Energy Corp and Blizzard Energy and as a member of the Board of Directors for Zedi, TUSK Energy, and Northern Blizzard Resources. Jim strongly believes in giving back to the community and serves on numerous charitable boards and projects including Ronald McDonald House (Southern Alberta) and the Calgary Police Commission. He is designated as a Professional Engineer by APEGGA and holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary.
E. Scott Beattie was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Elizabeth Arden, Inc. He was involved in every element of the company's expansion and development since its inception in 1992, and played a key role in Revlon’s acquisition of the company. Scott started his career at Accenture Consulting before moving to Merrill Lynch, where he became Director and Vice-President of Mergers & Acquisitions. Mr. Beattie also co-founded Bedford Capital, a private equity firm with a long track record of success in helping early stage companies grow their businesses. Scott also has extensive financial markets experience and serves on several boards including the Executive Committee of the Ivey School of Business, PENCIL (Public Education), and as Vice-Chairman of Revlon.
